There is a lot going on with our school boards in the Kansas City Area. I encourage everyone who has not voted already to get as much information about school board candidates before heading to the polls. I am providing some links to information that I hope will help you to make an informed decision.
School boards have more impact on communities then many people realize. The board of education is a volunteer representative body elected by the registered voters of the local public school district. The board governs the school district and serves as a leader and champion for public education in the community. School board members represent the interests of the entire district, not a subgroup or specific area of the district community. Board members come from all walks of life and are as diverse as the communities they serve. People serve on school boards for many reasons, but most do it for the satisfaction they get from seeing the positive impact that they can have on students and the community.
