My headache comes from what I do and don’t understand. My heartache comes from the hate and violence everywhere you look – TV, Radio, online streaming, emails, social media.
I have two other blogs I have been working on but I keep getting sidetracked by everything else and then just shutting down in self defense. I decided to not put a lot of effort into providing any links, to back up anything I am saying below, because it is too much.
So you want to check your understanding? Go out to any social media platform and deliberately search for the opposing view point, then read what the “other side” (whichever one it is) is saying – not just the politicians but look at the discussions by the people.
WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS
- The majority of U.S. citizens are fed up with our current government
- Most believe that most if not all of our elected congresspersons and senators need to go
- If they are strict party followers they believe the opposite party needs to go
- We are fed up with the status quo
- Democratic office holders tell you it is the Republicans fault
- Republican office holders tell you it is the Democrats fault
- both parties receive large campaign donations from the same businesses!
- The biggest disagreement is on “why” our political system is broken and “how” to fix it.
WHAT I DON’T UNDERSTAND IS
- In a video of the events in the U.S. Capital on January 6th, 2021 you hear some of the same messages the “other side” uses.
- This is our America not their America
- They work for us
- This is the people’s house
- Save America
- Save Democracy
- Freedom from tyranny
- Why we are fighting each other?
- We refuse to see even when the truth is right in front of us?
We truly all need and want the same things:
- to be treated with respect,
- to be able to provide for ourselves and our families,
- to feel safe.
We need to quit listening to the bought and paid for politicians about who is to blame.
We need to quit listening to the “slogans” that mean nothing, everything and something different to everyone who hears them.
We need to look for ourselves in others, to build empathy and compassion.
We need to come together in peace, listen to each other not the politicians and work this out peacefully so EVERYONE has their needs and wants met!!
